Bezos, the world’s richest man, sold more than $3 billion in Amazon stock and has cashed in over $10 billion this year

According to the filing documents submitted by Amazon to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos (Jeff Bezos) has sold more than $3 billion worth of Amazon shares this week.

In the past year, Bezos has accelerated the pace of stock sales and sold more than $4.1 billion and $3.1 billion in stocks in February and August this year. This week’s sell-off made Bezos’ total cash out of 10.2 billion US dollars so far this year, much higher than last year’s 2.8 billion US dollars . After the stock sell-off this week, Bezos still holds more than 53 million Amazon shares, valued at nearly $170 billion, and is still the world’s richest man.

Bezos has previously stated that he will sell approximately $1 billion in Amazon stock each year to fund his rocket startup Blue Origin. In addition, he also launched a US$10 billion Earth Fund in February this year to tackle climate change.
