Samsung Elec and Naver commenced developing the next-generation AI chip Mach-2. This move is to secure the next-gen AI chip early on, which will surpass the Mach-1, which both firms are currently developing and applying together.
According to a Korean media report, Naver has reportedly entered into the development of the next-generation AI chip Mach-2 with Samsung. The report mentions that Naver will design the core SW and Samsung will be responsible for chip design and production.
Naver is currently co-developing the AI inference chip Mach-1 with Samsung and will begin performance verification later this year. Naver expects to achieve significant cost savings in AI service operations by jointly creating Samsung’s AI semiconductor ecosystem.
Performance is expected to be significantly improved. It focuses on utilizing large language models (LLMs) that require more and more computation. Earlier, Naver revealed to reorganize its organization from 5 CICs to 12 specialized organizations and integrate AI services across the company.
