Today, market research firm Omdia said that after 10 years, PC brands will again consider 16:10 aspect ratio screens in 2020.
Naijatechnews has learned that in recent years, Apple notebooks have always insisted on using 16:10 screens, while Windows notebooks have basically adopted 16:9 screens. Starting this year, there are more and more 16:10 Windows notebooks, such as Dell’s XPS series, Lenovo Xiaoxin Pro 13, and many upcoming YOGA products.
Omdia said that PC brands will again consider 16:10 aspect ratio in 2020, because the existing 16:9 notebook models have limited profits and lack attractive marketing points to increase demand. 1920×1200 (WUXGA) resolution products will be planned and promoted from the fourth quarter of 2020. Finally, the agency pointed out that although the 16:10 notebook panel will return in 2020, the mass production plan is delayed because of the tight supply of notebook panels in 2020. It is difficult to give priority to the production of new projects under the current strong demand for mainstream notebook panels.
