According to the Nokia press release, in the latest report of the global independent research company Analysys Mason, Nokia was once again rated as the largest telecommunications software and service provider by market share . Nokia said that this ranking reflects Nokia’s strategic progress in strengthening its software business .
Analysys Mason said that the global telecommunications software and service market grew by about 1% in 2019 to US$66.9 billion, of which Nokia’s share was approximately US$4.5 billion.
Nokia said its software products are specifically designed for its cloud-native, multi-network, multi-vendor Common Software Foundation, and are optimized for all leading public cloud platforms, thereby providing operators with extensive operational flexibility.
Analysys Mason ranked Nokia as the software supplier with the highest product market share in its 2017 report, and ranked Nokia at the top of both the software and service market in its 2018 report.
Analysys Mason partner and head of network and software research Larry Goldman said: “In 2019, Nokia once again became the overall leader in telecommunications software market share. They were able to do this partly because of their strong growth in network virtualization and other things. At the same time, they are in a leading position in almost all major telecom software fields. The software decisions of new communications service providers are largely biased towards cloud-native products, which is very beneficial to Nokia.”
Bhaskar Gorti, President and Chief Digital Officer of Nokia Software, said: “Knowing our customers and their needs is the key to Nokia Software’s design of software and services; this is the driving force behind our launch of true cloud-native applications on the Nokia Common Software Foundation.”
