Microsoft is launching a new feature for the Word web version that allows users to embed interactive web content in documents . In a recent tweet, Microsoft EDU product manager Mike Tholfsen announced the global rollout of this new feature.
This new feature called “Word Embed” brings support for embedded interactive web content in the web version of Microsoft Word. Just like OneNote, users will be able to embed content such as videos and slides from many popular platforms such as YouTube, Microsoft Streams, SlideShare and Vimeo.
For example, to embed a YouTube video, users can paste the URL into a Word document, and Word for the web will automatically add the corresponding web content to the document.
Naijatechnews understands that the new experience makes it easier for users to use controls such as play and pause to play embedded content directly from the document. At the same time, this also greatly reduces the time required to open attachment links in Word, especially for users who embed multiple files in a document.
In addition, Mike Tholfsen confirmed in a follow-up tweet that this feature will be available in the iPad app and desktop version of Word in 2021.
