In a recently published patent, Microsoft explained how to bring touch control functions to laptops without touch screens.
Naijatechnews has learned that recently, Microsoft’s Your Phone application has officially supported streaming Android applications to PCs. Microsoft warned that some of these applications are only designed for touch screen control and therefore will not work properly with the PC’s keyboard and mouse.
Microsoft’s January 2020 patent is titled “USING AN ALTERNATE INPUT DEVICE AS A MANEUVERABLE EMULATED TOUCH SCREEN DEVICE (using alternative input devices as removable emulated touch screen devices)“. The patent proposes a simple solution, namely Enter a mode, in this mode, your trackpad will be simulated as a touch screen, to provide touch input to the application, just like touching the screen, and no longer used to control the cursor.
However, Microsoft pointed out that the touchpad is usually much smaller than the screen. Their solution is a movable input area (the light box in the picture above), which can be positioned by swiping with two fingers, and then move the input area Go to the place where you want to do touch input (for example, draw a signature with your finger in the example).
As mentioned earlier, although this solution is very clumsy when simulating the entire touch screen, it can be very effective for small windows where mobile applications are streamed to the PC.
