Microsoft this week began testing the mouse and touchpad support in the latest beta versions of its Word and Excel apps for iPad. This feature was introduced in version 2.42 of the above apps and can pass Apple’s test Service TestFlight obtained.
When editing documents or spreadsheets, mouse and trackpad support provides rich visual feedback. When using the trackpad, the cursor is displayed as a circle on the screen and only pops up when the finger is placed on the trackpad. Then, when the mouse hovers over an application icon, text field, or other screen element, the circle deforms into various other shapes.
iPadOS 13.4 introduces trackpad and mouse support in all iPad Pro models, iPad Air 2 and later, fifth-generation iPad and later, and iPad mini 4 and later. Keyboards with built-in trackpads include Apple’s Magic Keyboard, Brydge’s Pro+ for iPad Pro, Logitech’s Combo for 10.2-inch iPad and 10.5-inch iPad Air.
