iMessage still remains one of the most used messaging platforms in the United States today. Apple, however, does not seem to want to settle and continues to add very useful functions and, at times, taken from similar platforms. With iOS 14 it is finally possible to tag friends within conversations and even reply to specific messages in single or group conversations.
Tag people on iMessage
So let’s start with the first of the two functions listed above and see how to use it to mention users within a conversation (or a group). All you need to do is: write the name of the person to be tagged (the name must be the one saved in the address book) and included in the conversation, wait for it to become light gray, click on it and then click on the name at the top. At first glance, it might seem cumbersome, but in reality, doing it will be quick and very simple.
Furthermore, thanks to the tags, you can silence notifications for a conversation and receive them only in case you are tagged.
- Open the “Settings” app
- Click on “Messages”
- Activate the item “Notify me” under “MENTIONS”
The second novelty of iOS 14 for iMessage instead concerns the possibility of creating a message thread within a conversation, a function taken up once again by services such as WhatsApp and Telegram. To reply to a specific message just hold down on it and then click on “Reply”.
Once the thread has been created, it can also be expanded and isolated from the rest of the conversation by simply clicking on the blue “x answers” button which will automatically appear in the messages.
