So, to save a few bucks, you bought a replacement battery for your Fire 7 tablet… probably on Amazon, where else? You just have to turn off the batteries, but after inspecting your Kindle Fire you will conclude that it is not as simple as you thought. If removing the battery is the problem, don’t despair as we provide these quick and easy steps.
Tablet opening
- Make sure you turn off the device before you start.
- Place the Kindle on a surface with the screen facing down.
- Insert the plastic opening tool (which should come with the replacement battery kit) into the lower right corner of the Kindle Fire.
- Lift the lid until you hear a tapping sound.
- Go around the device by lifting the lid to release the clips that secure the device to the lid.
- Completely remove the back cover.
Disconnecting the antenna
- Peel the copper tape carefully, even if it is connected to the device.
- Look for a gold-tipped black string that runs the length of the battery. This is the antenna cable connector.
- Lift and pull the power connector cable that surrounds the battery.
Screw removal
Here you will need a # 00 Phillips screwdriver and a T5 Torx wrench. The 2mm T5 Torx screw is located next to the antenna clip on the motherboard. If you don’t have a Torx T5 key, your neighbor may have a set or you may have to go down to a hardware store (either one). You can also use your fingers or some other suitable tool, but it can be very difficult.
- Locate the four 3mm screws and unscrew – with the Phillips screwdriver.
- We unscrew the Torx T5 screw with the other.
Battery removal
- Separate the piece of plastic that connects the cables to the motherboard using the plastic opening tool.
- Remove the battery from the device with your finger or the plastic opening tool.
Maximizing the battery of the Kindle Fire 7
Now that you’ve fixed or replaced the battery, you can use some or all of these tips to improve the battery life of your device, so you don’t have to charge as often.
Download the glitter
Even if you reduce the brightness to the lowest setting, the screen will still be easily viewed under most conditions. This is especially useful in low light situations. You can extend the battery life by several hours. This will also prevent you from having eyestrain. To adjust the brightness:
- Open the notification bar by swiping down from the top of the screen.
- Touch the Brightness button.
- Slide the slider to adjust the brightness.
Turn off email sync
The email app will check your inbox every 15 minutes or so and every time it checks it will drain a bit of battery. If you don’t need to check your inbox that often, you can disable this feature. Although you can check email manually by opening the email app. Follow these steps to disable it:
- Press more to the Kindle Fire menu.
- Press Applications.
- Press Email, Contacts, Calendars.
- Tap the name of the account.
- Turn off the timing control settings.
Disable location services
This will save you a bit of battery life, but not much. Location services are active in the background and determine your location using information from your Wi-Fi connection. Your location doesn’t need to be active all the time, so it’s okay to disable it.
- Press more to the Kindle Fire menu.
- Click Location-Based Services.
- Change the options to Off.
Turn off Wi-Fi and / or Bluetooth
The device’s Bluetooth is rarely used and drains battery life, so you should turn it off most of the time. When reading, you should not turn on Wi-Fi as it is just a waste of power. You can disable both by activating airplane mode. You can access the Wi-Fi settings by sliding down the notification bar.
Try to avoid games
Games really take your battery life out as they are CPU intensive. If you want to play games, please do so while charging the device.
