New features of Firefox browser for Android Nightly: Install add-ons through files.
Mozilla enhanced the Android version of the Firefox browser last week, adding support for more than 450 add-ons.
Mozilla is now further expanding the support for add-ons in Firefox for Android. In the latest Nightly version, users can install add-ons through files.
Take Bypass Paywalls Clean, for example. This add-on is currently unavailable for download through Mozilla’s official add-on repository (aka AMO) due to a DMCA crackdown.
However, Bypass Paywalls Clean is still under maintenance and is a signed add-on. The only problem is that you need to install it from the file.
According to a report by foreign technology media GHacks, Naijatechnews takes Bypass Paywalls Clean as an example. The sharing operation steps are as follows:
1. The user downloads the .xpi file of Bypass Paywalls Clean.
2. Click the Menu button in Firefox Nightly and select Settings.
3. Click on the “Install add-on from file” option. The file picker should open.
4. Select the XPI file you downloaded and it will be installed in Firefox Nightly.
5. The extension can be accessed from your browser’s Menu > Add-ons.
