Settings to the BF 2042 configuration file
You can make some changes to the BF 2042 configuration file for additional performance. It is not guaranteed, but many users have benefited from it. This has been recommended by the Steam user. / Zoidberg :
I found that changing “GstRender.ShadowQuality 1” to “GstRender.ShadowQuality 0” in its config file dramatically improves fps for PC. The document is located at% USERPROFILE% Documents Battlefield 2042 settings PROFSAVE_profile (be sure to make a copy in case you want to revert to the previous settings)
Also changing “GstRender.Dx12Enabled 0” to “GstRender.Dx12Enabled 1” and “-GstRender.WeaponDOF 1 to GstRender.WeaponDOF 0” can also help you get better frame rates.
This gave me an extra 40fps, which makes things a lot smoother, especially in combat scenarios.
I found this after doing some research and thought I’d share it here so you guys could enjoy it too.
Stuttering solution
Battlefield 2042 is a problem for some users. These are the things you can do to fix it.
Overlays
Disable any overlays you have at this time. Overlays from apps like Discord, Nvidia GeForce Experience, Steam, etc. have been known to cause problems in games. So disable them all.
End demanding apps running in the background
If you have heavy applications running in the background, there is a possibility that the lag you are getting in BF 2042 is due to some applications being resource intensive. Just open your Task Manager, select the Processes tab, and click CPU. Make sure the arrow next to you is looking down. Doing this will bring resource-hungry apps to the top. Look for processes that you don’t need, but are consuming a large chunk of CPU. Right click on them and click “End Task”.
Windows 10 gaming features
Microsoft has been adding a lot of “game” utilities recently to Windows 10 that keep running in the background, hogging a ton of resources, without users having a clue about it.
As a background recording. Turn it off by going to the “Games” settings located within the Windows Settings menu. There you should find something called “Captures” on the left. Click on it and turn off the Background Recording feature inside.
The Xbox Game Bar is another feature that you should disable. Go to Windows Settings> Games> Xbox Game Bar . Turn it off.
And finally, the game mode feature is a hit or a miss. In some games, this feature helps, while in some it causes performance issues. Then it is better to turn it off. Here’s how to disable game mode. Open Windows 10 Settings menu> Click Games> Select Game Mode on the left sidebar> Turn it off> Restart game launcher
