Some do not accept the novelty of the Windows 11 dock , but Microsoft had it and offers different options to place it. We can return it to the classic place, in the left corner, although we must observe certain benefits of leaving everything in the center, we analyze everything!
On the one hand, we propose a very simple tutorial, which is to move the Windows 11 dock; On the other hand, we want to observe what advantages and disadvantages it offers to have it in the center or in the left corner. Microsoft thought of something when it put the dock in the middle, something that Apple had already done many years ago with macOS. We address both.
How to change the Windows 11 dock site
This is how we are presented with Windows 11 startup, something that may mislead some, but has an easy solution for conservatives. The steps to follow to change the Windows 11 dock site are the following:
- Right click on taskbar-> taskbar settings.
- Let’s go to « Behavior of the taskbar«. Then we can change the option from « Centered » to «Left».
- Without further ado, the taskbar will look like it has been seen in other Windows: on the left
Within the customization of the taskbar we can modify the icons that we want to see on the right side. To do this, we have to display « Taskbar corner overflow «, in which we can activate / deactivate several main options.
At the same time, we can do the same in ” Taskbar elements ” in regard to the taskbar that we use the most (now on the left).
Windows 11 dock in the middle, why?
Microsoft has spoken and claims that the dock in the center is justified in making the Start button more efficient . The centered position gains interest when working from laptops or from an ultrawide monitor .
The argument of putting the start menu and subsequent icons in this place is that the user takes less time to direct the cursor to the lower center than to the lower left corner. Likewise, Microsoft has not wanted to leave the user without options, so it has included the possibility of putting it where it always is.
For me, the center position seems much more comfortable than the left one for the same reason Microsoft maintains: it takes less time to open the start menu. This is because we usually have the windows in the center because, unconsciously, it reduces visual fatigue .
How can that be? We do it unintentionally and instinctively : we want to work in the center so as not to move our eyes to the sides. Personally, I notice it a lot when I am composing or writing something: I prefer to have it in the center and not expanded (unless it is Word). This way, I focus more and tire myself less, making it “more efficient,” as Microsoft puts it.
Yes, it is true that only the position changes, so we will not see more or less information depending on where we put it . So, it is a mere decision focused on the comfort of the user, without more.
