According to reports, Google is testing the dark mode for its desktop web search site, after Google has introduced a dark mode user interface in its mobile applications.
Google has added belated support for dark mode in its Gmail and search applications, and it seems that dark mode for desktop web pages may also be on the way. According to a report from 9to5Google, Google is conducting A/B testing based on the dark interface of desktop browser search for randomly selected users.
What users see on the Google search page is not the traditional pure white background, but dark gray, and the search results appear in light text. The original black text is now gray, and the page name/link uses a different shade of blue.
Other affected page elements include the Google logo changed to match the background, and search filters, such as images and news, are now blue.
Naijatechnews understands that it is unclear how long Google plans to test the feature before launching it to all users, but if it takes the same time as Gmail’s dark mode, it may take a while.
