Apple suppliers are preparing to start mass production of new AirPods, including two earphones, starting in May.
Both new AirPods feature a new design, improved fit, and use a USB-C interface for charging. The high-end version will also include active noise cancellation and a “find” function similar to AirPods Pro, which can be used to track the location of the headphone charging box.
Gurman revealed that the two new models are codenamed B768E and B768M respectively, and they will replace the second-generation AirPods currently sold by Apple for 999 yuan and the third-generation AirPods for 1,349 yuan.
With sales of AirPods 3 lower than expected, Apple is hoping these new models will be a success. IT House noted that Gurman said Apple will produce 20 million to 25 million new AirPods, which are expected to be released together with the iPhone 16 in the fall.
As for the next generation AirPods Pro, they are not expected to be released until 2025 , but some new software features such as hearing aid mode may be added. AirPods Max will be revised later this year to add a Type-C charging interface, but it seems there will be no other new features.
