Apple pushed the iOS 17.3 RC update (internal version number: 21D50) to iPhone users today. This update comes 43 days after the last release.
“AirPlay Hotel support lets you cast content directly to your TV in select hotel rooms,” Apple wrote in the iOS 17.3 RC changelog.
Hotel guests will be able to connect their iPhone or iPad to their in-room TVs by scanning a unique QR code, eliminating the need for customers to use passwords or download apps to use AirPlay in their hotel rooms.
Key new features in iOS 17.3 include Stolen Device Protection and Apple Music collaborative playlists.
When the stolen device protection function is turned on, some privacy operations on the iPhone require Face ID or Touch ID authentication, such as viewing or using the password or key in the iCloud keychain, turning off lost mode, deleting content or settings , use your iPhone to set up a new device, perform actions in your wallet, or use Safari for payment-related actions, and more.
Apple also added 2024 Unity wallpapers and Apple Watch faces in the update, as well as this year’s new watch band designs.
Apple officials said: “The new Unity Bloom iPhone and iPad lock screen wallpaper will also be launched next week, suitable for iPhone Xs and subsequent models running iOS 17.3, and iPad (6th generation and subsequent models) running iPadOS 17.3 , iPad mini (5th generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2nd generation and later), 10.5-inch iPad Pro and 11-inch iPad Pro (3rd generation and later) 1st generation and subsequent models).”
