Earlier this month, a couple of Motorola smartphones with model numbers XT2143-1 and XT2153-1 were spotted at the TENAA certification site in China. These listings is referring to the upcoming Motorola Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro smartphones.
Today, the Lenovo-owned company has now confirmed that the Edge 20 series would be unveiled at 7:30 PM (local time) on Aug. 5 in China.
Motorola Edge 20, Edge 20 Pro specifications
The Motorola Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro are built around a 6.67-inch OLED screen that offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2,400 pixels. Both phones have centrally aligned punch-hole screens that offer a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pro model has an in-display fingerprint scanner, but it is not clear whether the Edge 20 has a rear-facing or in-display fingerprint sensor. They also seem to be fitted with a hardware key for accessing the Google/voice assistant.
The Edge 20 has a 2.4GHz octa-core processor and a 3,760mAh rated battery, whereas the Edge 20 Pro features a 3.2GHz octa-core processor and a 4,230mAh rated battery. Past reports have revealed that the Edge 20 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 778G, and the Pro model will be driven by the Snapdragon 870 SoC. The Edge 20 duo supports fast charging.
The Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro will arrive in 6 GB, 8 GB, and 12 GB RAM variants. In terms of storage, these phones may release in options like 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB. They are loaded with Android 11 OS, and they lack support for external storage.
The TENAA listing of both phones and leaked information shared by reliable tipster Evan Blass had revealed that the Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro will be equipped with a 108-megapixel primary camera. The official poster also hints that the Edge 20 series will sport a 108-megapixel camera.
For selfies, the Edge 20 may come with a 32-megapixel front camera whereas its rear shell may possess a 16-megapixel selfie snapper.
The Edge 20’s rear camera setup may include a 108-megapixel primary camera, a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. The Edge 20 Pro may feature the same camera setup, but its telephoto lens may support 3x optical zoom.
The Edge 20 measures 163.5 x 76.2 x 7.1mm and weighs 165 grams only. It is expected to arrive in multiple colors such as green, white, black, silver, blue, and gray in China. On the other hand, the Edge 20 Pro has 163.3 x 76.1 x 7.9mm dimensions and weighs 190 grams. It may release in hues such as black, green, blue, pink, silver, and gray in the home market.
