In iOS 14 and iPadOS 14, Apple allows users to select third-party applications as the default email application and browser. There was a bug last month. Whenever the user’s device restarts, the default app will be reset to Apple’s own app.
Although the bug has been fixed, a new bug has appeared in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. It seems that whenever the selected third-party application is updated, the default application selection for email or browser is reset to Apple’s Mail or Safari.
The Verge has confirmed that whenever a user updates the selected default app through the App Store in iOS 14.1, the app will be removed from the default app slot. After each update is set as the default third-party mail application or browser, the user needs to reset the default application.
However, according to MacRumors, this bug may have been fixed in the iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 beta.
Naijatechnews.com has learned that Chrome, Edge, DuckDuckGo and Firefox can all be set as default browsers, while QQ mailbox, Gmail, Spark and Microsoft Outlook can all be set as default mail applications.
