(Original title: SpaceX called an emergency stop 2 seconds before launch)
On Friday night, with only about two seconds left before the countdown to launch, SpaceX suspended a plan to launch a US military GPS satellite.
The satellite’s launch plan was originally scheduled at 6:43 pm, and everything seemed to be going well until two seconds before launch. When the time arrived, SpaceX had just started the engine ignition procedure.
At 7 o’clock in the afternoon Pacific time, SpaceX tweeted: “Cancel the GPS III-4 launch plan tonight.”
However, the company did not specify whether it was the ground or the aircraft. SpaceX has not yet announced a new launch time.
Once SpaceX launches GPS satellites, it will allow Falcon 9 to attempt to land on an unmanned ship in the Atlantic Ocean. The spacecraft is scheduled to be launched 90 minutes after launch. SpaceX broadcasted the launch on Friday.
SpaceX was originally scheduled to use Falcon 9 to put a new batch of Starlink communications satellites into orbit on Thursday, but this launch was cancelled and will be rescheduled. The United Launch Alliance also plans to launch a Delta IV heavy rocket carrying a classified spy satellite on Wednesday , but a technical problem prevented the attempt.
The delayed launch of Starlink and the mission of the Space Force provide excellent opportunities for filming. Earlier this week, SpaceX shared pictures of two Falcon 9s on their respective launch pads on Twitter.
Please wait and see whether SpaceX can escort GPS satellites into orbit as planned. However, as currently happening, launch delays are very common.
