Microsoft today announced the establishment of a partnership with Qualcomm to ensure the compatibility of applications with the Snapdragon computing platform. The two companies today announced the expansion of Microsoft’s App Assure plan to include ARM64 support.
Microsoft’s App Assure is scheduled to be announced at the end of 2018 (and available in early 2019) and is designed to resolve any application compatibility issues when running Windows 10. This free plan is available to eligible customers, developers and independent software vendors (ISVs) under existing Microsoft 365 subscriptions.
The plan is now being expanded to ARM64 PCs with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. According to the press release, Microsoft’s App Assure with FastTrack program is a service designed to help customers, developers, and independent software vendors solve application compatibility issues without charging additional fees to eligible customers. Through this announced expansion, Microsoft is committed to providing an excellent experience on Windows 10 devices equipped with the Snapdragon computing platform and providing end users with a consistent application experience . A key point of the plan will be to involve vendors in providing compatibility of Windows 10 applications on the Snapdragon computing platform, so that users who work anywhere can use Windows 10 applications on devices equipped with Snapdragon with confidence. This announcement is another milestone in redefining the mobile computing experience brought by Snapdragon-powered PCs.

Qualcomm recently announced the new Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G processor, which will be used in Acer’s new Spin 7 notebooks. Microsoft is also expected to launch the Surface Pro X equipped with the SQ2 processor sometime early next month.
