Foreign media Apple Insider reported that Apple’s Swift programming language officially landed on the Windows 10 system this week, and the Swift toolchain image can now be downloaded from the open source project.
Apple announced in a blog post on Tuesday that the release of the Swift tool enables developers to build, run, and debug code directly on Windows 10.
Naijatechnews is informed that the tool chain includes a compiler, standard library and core library, which are all key elements for creating functional applications .
“With these core libraries and the flexible interoperability of Swift and C, it is possible to develop applications purely using Swift on Windows, while using the existing corpus on the Windows platform.” Saleem Abdulrasool, Swift core team member and Google Brain software engineer Wrote.
He used Swift and Visual Studio 2019 to create a basic calculator application to demonstrate the functionality of the toolkit. The app was built with CMake, but Abdulrasool pointed out that Swift package manager support on Windows is in progress.
Some major developers have already tried Swift on Windows 10. Readdle is a company that has been developing iOS and Mac software for a long time. It has been patching the cross-platform version of its Spark email platform since 2019 and has seen good results.
Developers who are interested in contributing to the project are welcome to download the toolchain and report issues to Swift Bug Tracker .
