Microsoft today announced the release of Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 20211 to developers insiders. It brings users a new feature that allows users to access Linux file systems (such as ext4) that Windows does not support.
Naijatechnews understands that this feature of Windows 10 also supports the attachment and installation of physical disks in WSL 2 . wsl –mount.
The method to access Linux files from Windows is as follows:
To mount the disk, open a PowerShell window with administrator rights and run:
wsl –mount <DiskPath>
To list the available disks in Windows, run:
wmic diskdrive list brief
To remove and detach the disk from WSL 2, run:
wsl –unmount >Diskpath>
After mounting, users can access these disks through Windows Explorer by navigating to \wsl$ and then to the mount folder.
Currently there are some limitations to this function: only physical disks can be connected to WSL 2, and a single partition cannot be connected .
