Epic Games (hereinafter referred to as “Epic”), the developer of the video game “Fortnite”, said that users will no longer be able to log in to the game with Apple’s login system as early as Friday .

On Tuesday, local time, Apple filed a countersuit against Epic, demanding compensation for the company’s lost App Store commission fees and seeking other damages. It also requested the court to order Epic to stop operating its in-app payment system.
The dispute between Apple and Epic began on August 13, 2020, when the latter released a version of Fortnite in the Apple App Store. This version allows users to pay for in-game content instead of Give Apple a 30% commission as usual. Subsequently, Apple removed the game, and Epic sued Apple later in the day.
Later, Apple suspended Epic’s developer account on August 28, making it impossible to create new applications or update “Fortress Night” on the company’s platform. On Tuesday, Apple went further and asked the court to hold Epic accountable for breach of contract and other crimes, demanding the return of all fees collected by “Fortnite” through its payment system, and hoped that the court would issue a permanent injunction prohibiting Epic from including ” All applications including Fortnite use its external payment mechanism.
In response, Apple stated that Epici launched a “sneak attack” against the company, and even pointed out that Epic executives did not “recognize and thank Apple for supporting and promoting the “Fortnite” event until April 2020.
