On August 28, according to foreign media reports, the US space exploration technology company SpaceX will launch a lunar lander for the US manned space exploration company Masten Space Systems (hereinafter referred to as “Masten”) in 2022 .
On August 26, Masten announced that it had signed a contract with SpaceX for the latter to launch the first lunar lander Masten Mission One (MM1 for short). However, neither company disclosed the value of the contract.
If all goes according to plan, Masten’s first lunar mission will take place in 2022 and will send the company’s XL-1 lunar lander to the south pole of the moon, which carries many NASA payloads. Including all kinds of scientific experiment equipment and goods of commercial customers.
Masten is not the only company that chose SpaceX to launch a lunar lander. Intuitive Machines also chose SpaceX to launch its IM-1 lunar lander with the “Falcon 9” rocket in 2021. In addition, the Japanese company ispace also chose SpaceX to perform two lunar exploration missions for it in 2018.
